Job Description

We are on the lookout for a meticulous and experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Pretoria team. The successful candidate will evaluate and analyze risk for various insurance applications, ensuring that our policies meet client needs while maintaining profitability.

Responsibilities

• Review and adjust underwriting policies based on market conditions and business needs.
• Communicate with clients to explain policy options and coverages.
• Prepare reports on underwriting activities, trends, and projections for management.
• Participate in industry seminars and workshops to enhance knowledge and network with peers.
• Support the development of marketing materials related to underwriting products.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, or related field
• Master's degree or professional qualification is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance sector, with a focus on underwriting

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Market Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal Skills
• Negotiation

Certifications

• FCII or similar qualification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in another language: Ability to communicate effectively in Afrikaans or Zulu is an advantage.
• Experience in commercial underwriting: Background in commercial insurance underwriting preferred.
