Job Description

Join our Durban branch as an Insurance Underwriter, where your analytical skills will be essential in assessing risks associated with potential clients. You'll work closely with our sales team to tailor coverage plans that meet client needs while maintaining the company’s profitability. This position requires a mix of technical knowledge and customer interaction to achieve solutions that benefit both parties.

Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite new and renewal insurance accounts.
• Research market trends and adjust underwriting practices accordingly.
• Respond to coverage inquiries and provide guidance to clients.
• Ensure all underwriting actions are documented in line with company policies.
• Participate in training and development programs.
• Engage collaboratively with claims and risk management teams.
• Utilize data analytics to enhance decision-making processes.
• Maintaining an understanding of underwriting software systems.
• Report significant risks to senior management.
• Review and update underwriting guidelines as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in underwriting or risk management

Technical Skills

• Insurance Regulation Knowledge
• Data Analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Detail Orientation

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) qualification or equivalent

Languages

• English: Fluent
