Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Durban. The successful candidate will evaluate insurance applications, assess risks, and formulate policies that align with our business objectives. You will play a crucial role in determining coverage limits and premiums, while providing excellent service to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Utilize risk assessment tools to analyze potential clients.
• Recommend policy modifications to better fit client needs.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance underwriting skills.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Assist in resolving underwriting disputes or issues.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Masters or additional certifications preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or related fields

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Statistical Analysis

Certifications

• Fellowship from the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA)
• Risk Management Certification
