Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We seek an Insurance Underwriter to assess risks associated with insurance applications and provide tailored recommendations based on industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with clients and other industry stakeholders to ensure appropriate coverage levels and risk mitigation strategies are in place.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine the insurability of applicants.
• Analyze statistical data and claim trends to inform underwriting decisions.
• Advise clients on their insurance needs based on individual circumstances.
• Document underwriting rationale and decisions coherently and accurately.
• Engage in continuous education to enhance underwriting practices.
• Assist in resolving client queries regarding policy terms and conditions.
• Contribute to product development and enhancements based on market feedback.
• Enhance internal processes to improve turnaround times for insurance applications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related discipline

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting with a focus on insurance products

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Underwriter (CIU)
• CII Diploma in Insurance

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Knowledge of reinsurance processes: Understanding of the reinsurance process and market practices.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools: Familiarity with data analysis tools to assess risk more effectively.
