Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

As an Insurance Underwriter at EcoSure Insurance in Durban, you'll play a critical role in evaluating risk and determining the insurability of clients. You'll assess applications and make informed decisions while collaborating closely with our sales team. We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and possesses excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess applications for various insurance types.
• Implement underwriting guidelines and controls.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to all stakeholders.
• Advise clients on risk management strategies and coverages.
• Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with underwriting standards.
• Create and maintain reports on underwriting activities for analysis.
• Engage in market research to remain informed about competitive practices.
• Foster positive relationships with clients to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of underwriting experience preferred.

Technical Skills

• Report writing

Certifications

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute (FII)

Languages

• English: Fluent
