Job Description

As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and underwriting insurance policies. Using your expertise, you'll assess risk factors and set appropriate coverage terms. If you're detail-oriented and customer-focused, this position is perfect for you.

Responsibilities

• Assess risks by conducting thorough reviews of client information and market trends.
• Identify potential areas for process improvements within the underwriting function.
• Develop strong relationships with brokers and agents for better business collaboration.
• Monitor and manage claims within approved policies for compliance.
• Educate clients on policy features, exclusions, and conditions.
• Actively participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting practices and strategies.
• Train junior underwriters on best practices and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, or related discipline

Experience

• 5+ years in an underwriting role within an insurance firm

Technical Skills

• Data Analysis

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Advanced certifications in underwriting: Professional certifications such as AINS or CPCU.
• Additional language proficiency: Ability to communicate in Afrikaans or Zulu is a plus.
