Cybersecurity Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Consultant to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cyber threats and solutions, as well as experience in implementing security measures to protect sensitive information. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities, conducting risk assessments, and developing strategies to mitigate cyber risks.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in understanding their cybersecurity needs and developing customized solutions.
• Lead initiatives to improve the security posture of clients' infrastructures.
• Engage in ongoing security reviews and vulnerability scanning.
• Work with the incident response team to address and mitigate threats.
• Provide expert advice on emerging security risks and resilience strategies.
• Conduct training sessions to enhance the cybersecurity skills of client teams.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in cybersecurity and risk management

Technical Skills

• Threat Analysis
• Security Frameworks (CIS, NIST)

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Leadership

Certifications

• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
• CompTIA Security+

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of GDPR and other privacy regulations: Awareness of data protection laws and how they apply to cybersecurity.
• Experience in security operations centers (SOCs): Previous work in a SOC environment, monitoring and responding to incidents.
