Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and extensive knowledge of veterinary medicine and surgery. You will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and performing surgery on various animals, as well as providing preventive care and client education.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose diseases and formulate appropriate treatment protocols.
• Perform routine and emergency surgeries as required.
• Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians and support staff.
• Promote preventive healthcare through client education.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote animal welfare.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients for ongoing care.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine
• Specialization in Surgery is preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in veterinary practice and surgery

• Surgical Techniques
• Anesthesia Management

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Client Relations

Certifications

• Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (VECCS)
• Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of veterinary software: Experience using veterinary management software for clinic operations.
• Publication in veterinary journals: Contributions to the veterinary community through research and articles.
