Veterinary Lab Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a Veterinary Lab Technician to join our dedicated team in Durban. The successful candidate will assist with laboratory tests and procedures to ensure the health and wellbeing of our animal patients. This role requires strong attention to detail, a passion for animal care, and proficiency in laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities

• Run diagnostic tests including microbiological, hematological, and cytological analyses.
• Assist with the collection of samples from patients.
• Provide information and support to veterinarians regarding laboratory results.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss animal care and laboratory tests.
• Assist in the development of laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a positive environment for both clients and colleagues.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Coordinate with external laboratories as needed for additional testing.
• Manage waste disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Veterinary Technology or Animal Health

Experience

• 1+ years of hands-on experience in veterinary labs

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)

Languages

• English: Fluent
