Birth Center Midwife

Job Description

The Birth Center Midwife will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. The role requires exceptional clinical skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for maternal health.

Responsibilities

• Deliver emotional and physical support to mothers during labor and delivery.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of patient care.
• Provide education and counseling regarding nutrition, parenting, and family planning.
• Participate in community outreach and maternal health programs.
• Engage in continuous professional development and training.

Requirements

Education

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with valid South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Midwifery required

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Midwife in a hospital or birth center setting

Certifications

• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Fluency in Afrikaans or Xhosa: Ability to communicate effectively in local languages enhances patient rapport.
• Experience with high-risk pregnancies: Experience in handling complex pregnancies and complications.
