Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are looking for an Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Cape Town. In this role, you will assess insurance applications, evaluate risks, and determine appropriate coverage. You will be responsible for ensuring our clients receive the best protection while managing our company’s exposure to risk.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal submissions efficiently and accurately.
• Conduct market research to inform underwriting decisions.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with brokers and clients.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports to management.
• Participate in training and development programs.
• Assist in claims evaluation as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

Technical Skills

• Insurance Software Proficiency
• Claims Management Understanding

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Customer Service Orientation

Certifications

• Fellowship in Life Underwriting (FALU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in commercial underwriting: Background in underwriting policies for business insurance.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
