Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our expert team in Cape Town. In this role, you'll be responsible for assessing risk and determining policy terms for a diverse range of clients. Your keen analytical skills will play a crucial role in ensuring the profitability and sustainability of our insurance products.

Responsibilities

• Analyze risk data to support underwriting decisions.
• Calculate premiums and coverage limits to ensure competitive offerings.
• Communicate with clients to gather additional information for evaluations.
• Provide mentorship to junior underwriters and assist in their development.
• Prepare reports on underwriting trends and performance.
• Support claims assessments by providing insights on policy stipulations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Economics or Business Administration
• Postgraduate degree in Insurance Management will be beneficial

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years in an insurance underwriting position

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Financial Analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Time Management

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) is an advantage

Languages

• English: Fluent
