Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Durban team. The successful candidate will assess risks and determine suitable insurance coverage for clients, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. You will play a critical role in helping clients protect their financial investments.

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed analysis of risk management processes.
• Facilitate client meetings to discuss coverage needs and options.
• Document underwriting rationale and communicate decisions effectively.
• Evaluate operational processes for efficiency and improvement.
• Participate in client retention strategies and initiatives.
• Contribute to market research and competitor analysis.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Postgraduate diploma in insurance or risk management is preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Legal Compliance Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Client Relationship Management

Certifications

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)
• CPCU designation is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent
