Civil Engineer - Structural

Job Description

As a Civil Engineer specializing in structural engineering, the candidate will engage in project planning, design, and execution. They will take part in the critical assessment and modification of engineering plans and will contribute to ensuring the overall success of ongoing projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute engineering designs that comply with regulations.
• Engage in peer reviews to enhance design quality.
• Incorporate sustainability aspects into projects.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
• Prepare tender documents for projects.
• Support the commissioning and validation of completed projects.
• Act as a liaison between project teams and clients for structural concerns.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Ph.D. in Structural Engineering is a plus

Experience

• At least 5-7 years of structural engineering experience

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Steel and Concrete Design

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Analytical Skills

Certifications

• Lean Six Sigma Certification
• Certified Structural Engineer (CSE)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Project Management Software: Hands-on experience with project management tools like MS Project or Primavera.
• Membership in Relevant Professional Bodies: Membership in organizations such as the South African Institute of Civil Engineers (SAICE) or similar.
