Histopathologist

Job Description

A histopathologist is responsible for examining tissue samples to diagnose diseases and disorders. You will collaborate closely with the medical team to ensure accurate patient diagnoses and treatment plans, while maintaining thorough documentation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in research studies and clinical trials related to histopathology
• Implement new technologies and methodologies in the laboratory
• Prepare detailed reports on findings and maintain clear documentation
• Support laboratory accreditation processes and inspections

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Medicine or related field
• Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Experience

• Experience with cancer diagnosis is advantageous

Technical Skills

• Immunohistochemistry
• Molecular pathology

Soft Skills

• Time management
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Certified by the Health Professions Council of South Africa
• Continuing professional development (CPD) points

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with immunohistochemistry techniques: Experience using immunohistochemical methods for diagnostics.
• Familiarity with laboratory management systems: Knowledge of software used in laboratory management.
