Job Description

We are seeking an Animal Control Supervisor to oversee and manage animal control operations to ensure public safety and animal welfare. The role involves coordinating animal control activities, implementing and enforcing regulations, and leading a dedicated team of officers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement animal welfare programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage the animal shelter conditions and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure animal health and care.
  • Engage with community stakeholders to promote animal welfare events.
  • Review and update animal control policies and procedures regularly.
  • Maintain operational budgets and manage resources effectively.
  • Prepare presentations and educational materials for community outreach.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure team communication and collaboration.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or related field
  • Master's degree is a plus
Experience
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in supervisory roles within animal control or related fields
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of South African animal control regulations
  • Experience in handling diverse animal species
Soft Skills
  • Analytical thinking and effective judgment
  • Public speaking and community engagement skills

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of animal behaviour, diseases, and handling techniques: Essential for ensuring animal safety and public health.
