Job Description

The Darkroom Technician is responsible for developing photographic films, creating prints and enlargements, and ensuring the darkroom operates efficiently. This role requires strong organizational skills and experience in traditional darkroom techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct film developing and printing while ensuring quality control.
  • Oversee daily operations of the darkroom and ensure efficient workflows.
  • Train new technicians and team members on processes and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage the budget for darkroom supplies.
  • Collaborate with the photography team to fulfill project requirements.
  • Document and report any equipment malfunctions or supplies shortages.
  • Create engaging materials for workshops to educate users.
  • Implement safety protocols related to chemical handling.
  • Evaluate new darkroom technologies and suggest improvements.
  • Foster a positive learning environment in the studio.

Requirements

Education
  • Diploma or degree in Photography or related field
  • Formal training in traditional darkroom techniques
Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in traditional darkroom techniques
