Mental Health Counselor

Job Description

The Mental Wellness Centre is seeking a dedicated and passionate Mental Health Counselor to become part of our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will use therapeutic techniques to assist clients in addressing mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide individual counselling and support.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients’ mental health needs and co-develop suitable treatment strategies.
• Utilize a range of counselling techniques tailored to different clients.
• Document progress and handle administrative files responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with external organizations and service providers.
• Lead workshops and informational sessions on mental health awareness.
• Act as a liaison between clients and other health services.
• Provide advocacy for clients with severe mental health disorders.
• Conduct mental health screenings and evaluations.
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings.
• Advertise mental wellness events and workshops to the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work
• Master's degree in Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy preferred

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years' experience in counselling or related field
