Mental Health Counselor

Job Description

The Mental Wellness Centre is seeking a dedicated and passionate Mental Health Counselor to become part of our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will use therapeutic techniques to assist clients in addressing mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide individual counselling and support.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual counselling sessions for clients experiencing mental health challenges.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and support in emergencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
• Stay updated with mental health best practices and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Organize and facilitate group therapy sessions.
• Engage with community resources to support client referrals and integration.
• Support client education and empowerment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work
• Master's degree in Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy preferred

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years' experience in counselling or related field
