Accountant

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join our team in Durban. Your role will encompass preparation of financial statements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with the latest financial regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and be able to work collaboratively within our dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
• Assist in developing financial strategies to support organizational goals.
• Maintain and improve financial systems and controls.
• Work closely with external auditors during annual audits.
• Coordinate with internal departments on financial issues.
• Identify areas for cost savings and report findings.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Act as a point of contact for financial inquiries and concerns.
• Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards.
• Continuously seek ways to enhance accounting practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or similar qualification preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in a similar accounting role

Technical Skills

• Budgeting
• Forecasting

Certifications

• CIMA or similar qualification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Project management experience: Familiarity with project management tools is advantageous.
