Urban Planner

Job Description

We are on the lookout for an Urban Planner who is dedicated to improving urban spaces in Johannesburg. In this role, you'll be involved in all phases of urban planning from initial research and analysis to design implementation, ensuring community needs and environmental sustainability are at the forefront of your decisions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present urban development reports to stakeholders.
• Undertake land use planning assessments and reviews.
• Work with local government officials to secure necessary approvals.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
• Research trends in urban development and planning regulations.
• Facilitate public engagement sessions to inform community planning efforts.
• Develop strategies to enhance urban sustainability and resilience.
• Coordinate with surveying teams for accurate site mapping.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies, Architecture, or related field
• Master's degree in Urban Planning is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in urban planning and community development

Technical Skills

• Urban Design Software
• Data Analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Time Management

Certifications

• Certified Planner (AICP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Proficiency in AutoCAD: Experience with AutoCAD for urban design purposes.
• Experience with Economic Analysis: Ability to conduct economic feasibility analyses for projects.
