Job Description

Join our team as an Insurance Underwriter, where you will evaluate insurance applications and determine coverage eligibility. You will analyze risk factors and make informed decisions to ensure our company remains profitable while providing excellent service to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Work with the sales team to enhance customer retention strategies.
• Participate in risk assessment meetings with senior management.
• Stay informed on changes in laws and regulations relevant to underwriting.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or relevant field
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting, risk assessment, or related field

• Policy Evaluation
• Data Analysis

• Detail-oriented
• Time Management

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) certifications

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Understanding of reinsurance processes: Knowledge of how reinsurance impacts underwriting decisions.
• Ability to mentor junior underwriters: Experience in training and guiding less experienced team members.
