Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Ophthalmologist to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases and conditions, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient consultations to determine medical history and present conditions.
• Utilise specialized equipment for diagnostics and treatment.
• Prescribe corrective lenses or surgery when necessary.
• Educate patients and their families about eye health.
• Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology practice.
• Contribute to the improvement of clinical practices and procedures.
• Participate in community health outreach programs.
• Handle emergency medical situations efficiently.
• Ensure high standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Prepare and submit medical reports as required.

Requirements

Education

• Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent
• Specialized training or fellowship in Ophthalmology is preferred

Experience

• Experience in a particular ophthalmic specialty (e.g. retinal surgery, glaucoma) is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Pharmaceutical dispensing software
• Surgical skills

Soft Skills

• Empathy and strong patient care skills
• Ability to work well under pressure

Certifications

• Board certification in a specialized area is advantageous

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
