Network Engineer

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a skilled Network Engineer to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network solutions that enhance our connectivity and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in networking technologies and a passion for problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage VLANs, VPNs, and other network protocols.
• Evaluate and implement new networking technologies.
• Respond to service outages and ensure rapid recovery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery.
• Prepare reports on network performance and issues identified.
• Assist in the planning and execution of network upgrades.
• Provide technical insight during project meetings.
• Test and evaluate new networking hardware and software.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network reliability.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications or related field
• Network+ certification or equivalent

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in network design and implementation

Technical Skills

• Network Monitoring Tools
• Cloud Networking

Soft Skills

• Project Management
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of IPv6: Understanding of IPv6 addressing and configuration.
• Experience with network virtualization: Familiarity with virtualized network environments and solutions.
