Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Cape Town team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing risks and ensuring compliance within the insurance landscape. You will play a pivotal role in evaluating policy applications and providing outstanding recommendations based on data-driven analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and analyze risk to write insurance policies tailored to individual client needs.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions effectively by preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting practices and share insights.
  • Utilize software programs to assess risk and maintain underwriting records.
  • Oversee the implementation of new underwriting initiatives and strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate personal performance and seek professional development opportunities.
  • Support claims handling by providing necessary underwriting information to claims staff.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Risk Management
  • Insurance certifications such as AINS or CPCU are a plus
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on underwriting
