Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Special Needs Education Advisor to join our dedicated team in Cape Town. This role involves working closely with students and educators to develop tailored strategies that support individual learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate student needs through assessments and observations.
• Create and oversee IEPs to support individual student learning.
• Work closely with educators to implement inclusive practices.
• Monitor student progress and adjust IEPs as needed.
• Provide professional development for staff on special education issues.
• Advocate for needed resources and services for students.
• Collaborate with parents to support at-home learning strategies.
• Network with external agencies for additional resources.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in student education.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Special Education is preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of working in special needs education

Technical Skills

• Behavioral Analysis
• Curriculum Adaptation

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Certified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Training in trauma-informed care: Experience in addressing the needs of students who’ve faced trauma.
• Background in behavioral therapies: Knowledge of interventions that support behavioral challenges.
