Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Durban team. The successful applicant will assess insurance applications, evaluate risks, and prepare proposals that meet both client needs and company standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our underwriting guidelines are followed while managing rights and obligations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review insurance applications and additional documentation.
• Conduct risk assessments and make recommendations based on findings.
• Prepare detailed reports on underwriting decisions.
• Engage with customers to explain underwriting processes.
• Monitor ongoing risks associated with current clients.
• Collaborate with actuaries and risk management teams.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze industry data to enhance underwriting accuracy.
• Train and mentor new team members in risk assessment protocols.
• Contribute to developing products tailored to market needs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Relevant insurance qualifications are preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years in underwriting with direct exposure to risk evaluation
