Public Health Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support to individuals and families facing social challenges. You will play a pivotal role in assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and advocating for community resources.

Responsibilities

• Implement disease prevention strategies within the community.
• Coordinate health fairs and community engagement events.
• Analyze health data for trends and report findings.
• Evaluate the health education materials for relevance and accuracy.
• Cultivate relationships with public health stakeholders.
• Assist in grant writing for public health initiatives.
• Provide recommendations for health policy improvements.
• Support the training and mentoring of new public health officers.
• Develop and maintain community resource directories.
• Evaluate and adjust programs based on community feedback.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or related field
• Master's degree in Public Health is highly advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in public health initiatives

• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)

• Xhosa: Conversational
