Corrections Corporal

Job Description

As a Corrections Corporal, you will oversee the safety and security of inmates within our correctional facility. This role involves managing a team of correctional officers, ensuring compliance with all facility policies, and maintaining a high standard of safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of correctional officers to uphold facility standards.
• Monitor inmate activities and behavior for safety.
• Enforce rules and regulations consistently.
• Provide conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
• Conduct staff training on safety protocols.
• Maintain inventory of security equipment.
• Report on incidents and propose solutions.
• Ensure inmate rehabilitation initiatives are followed.
• Work with social workers and psychologists on inmate management.
• Develop and implement effective communication channels.

Requirements

Education

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Additional qualifications in related fields are advantageous

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in correctional services, with proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in conflict resolution or negotiation: Skills in de-escalating situations and mediating conflicts.
