Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our talented team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing electrical systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This role includes collaborating with project managers and other engineers, as well as overseeing the implementation of electrical designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for electrical systems from concept to completion.
• Perform load calculations and system sizing for various applications.
• Interface with clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Evaluate product specifications and recommend suitable options.
• Ensure documentation is maintained accurately and updated promptly.
• Conduct risk assessments and address safety considerations.
• Prepare for and participate in project audits.
• Analyze and resolve technical problems as they arise.
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Master's degree in relevant field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in electrical system design

Technical Skills

• ETAP
• MATLAB

Soft Skills

• Team Leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with project management software: Familiarity with tools like MS Project or Primavera is an advantage.
• Experience in utility-scale electrical projects: Hands-on experience with large utility projects preferred.
