Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

We are in search of a passionate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Pretoria. As a vital part of our civil engineering department, you will tackle a variety of projects that require expert knowledge in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles. You will work collaboratively with architects, project managers, and other engineers to ensure designs are both safe and effective. The ideal candidate should have a blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to successfully manage client relationships while delivering impactful solutions. Your role will involve on-site assessments, conducting soil tests, and developing geotechnical reports.

Responsibilities

• Supervise geotechnical drilling and sampling processes.
• Assess groundwater conditions in relation to soil stability.
• Communicate findings to project teams and assist with engineering designs.
• Implement innovative solutions to improve project efficiency.
• Assist in project bidding processes by providing accurate geotechnical analyses.
• Collaborate with environmental teams to address sustainability concerns.
• Develop geotechnical design methods and criteria.
• Analyze the impact of geological factors on engineering projects.
• Keep abreast of new technologies and industry developments.
• Document lessons learned and best practices for future projects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in geotechnical design and analysis
