Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Johannesburg. This role involves supporting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, offering patient education, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be passionate about patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications accurately under pharmacist supervision.
• Offer patient consultations regarding over-the-counter products.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pharmacy area.
• Assist in training junior staff and new pharmacy technicians.
• Monitor and manage prescription refill requests.
• Conduct medication reviews for chronic disease management.
• Support the pharmacist in educational workshops for patients.
• Handle the processing of insurance and payment transactions.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate
• Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or similar qualification

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a pharmacy setting

Technical Skills

• Pharmaceutical Compounding
• Inventory Control

Soft Skills

• Team Player
• Time Management

Certifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate effectively in both languages.
