Job Description

As an Interceptor Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the machinery used in the interception and removal of waste from waterways. This crucial role involves monitoring waterways, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and documenting all operational activities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of machinery and equipment used for waste interception.
• Collect data on waterway conditions and report any anomalies.
• Assist in the development of maintenance schedules for machinery.
• Implement health and safety protocols during operations.
• Coordinate with environmental agencies to ensure compliance standards.
• Train new team members on operational procedures and machinery use.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
• Assist with the procurement of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Participate in community outreach programs related to waste management.

Requirements

Education

• Matric or equivalent
• Technical diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred

Experience

• Experience in environmental services or waste management is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Welding and fabrication skills

Languages

• English: Fluent
