Job Description

We are on the lookout for a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our Johannesburg office. Your role will be pivotal in creating clear and engaging documentation for our software products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze technical information, ensuring that all output is accurate and user-friendly.

Responsibilities

• Research and gather information from various sources to produce accurate documentation.
• Develop templates and style guides to standardise documentation quality.
• Edit and proofread content to ensure it meets company standards.
• Conduct usability tests on documentation to gather feedback.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss documentation projects and timelines.
• Provide training or support to new technical writers.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in technical writing, especially in software development environment

Technical Skills

• Markdown
• Adobe Technical Communication Suite

Soft Skills

• Project Management
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Technical Writing Certificate from a recognized institution

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in writing API documentation: Ability to write comprehensive API guides and references.
• Knowledge of graphic design tools: Familiarity with tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
