We are on the lookout for a meticulous Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage options for our clients. Your analytical skills will be key in ensuring that we provide competitive and fair insurance solutions while safeguarding our company’s interests.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments for insurance proposals.
• Review and approve or decline applications based on established criteria.
• Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and communications.
• Coordinate with legal and compliance departments to ensure adherence to regulations.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior underwriters as needed.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of current underwriting procedures.
• Develop strategies to enhance underwriting efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related discipline

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or related fields

Certifications

• Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)
