Job Description

We are in search of an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our vibrant team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and making informed decisions to protect our clients and ensure profitability. Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data to determine risk factors and eligibility for coverage.
• Develop insurance policies tailored to the needs of clients.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients in person or via phone.
• Monitor industry developments and adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
• Prepare presentations and reports for management review.
• Evaluate claims for compliance with policy terms and conditions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance or Risk Management
• Master's degree in Business or Finance is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or a related role

• Data Analysis

• Team Leadership

Certifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
• Insurance Risk Management Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic
