Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Port Elizabeth. As part of our dynamic accounting department, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate financial reports monthly and annually.
• Oversee financial audits and collaborate with external auditors.
• Maintain general ledger and ensure journal entries are accurate.
• Review and approve transactions and financial documents.
• Track financial performance metrics and provide analysis.
• Coordinate with tax professionals to ensure compliance.
• Assist in preparing financial proposals and grant applications.
• Mentor junior accounting staff in best practices.
• Stay updated with changes to accounting regulations.
• Enhance internal controls to minimize risks.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA) is advantageous

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance

• Completed SAICA training
• CIMA qualification (preferred)
