Health and Safety Officer

Job Description

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will ensure our workplace adheres to safety standards and regulations. You will conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and provide guidance on safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
• Provide training to staff on health and safety regulations.
• Investigate safety incidents and prepare reports.
• Maintain records of safety training and incidents.
• Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety.
• Stay updated on local and international safety regulations.
• Advise on appropriate safety measures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate safety information effectively to all employees.
• Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning.

Requirements

Education

• National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
• Degree in Safety Management is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in health and safety roles

Certifications

• NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• SAMTRAC Certificate

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• First Aid Certification: Certified in First Aid and CPR to handle emergencies on-site.
• Experience with H&S Management Systems: Familiarity with health and safety management systems such as ISO 45001.
