Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join our enthusiastic team in Pietermaritzburg. As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will provide high-quality medical care to a variety of animals, perform surgeries, and consult with pet owners regarding treatments and preventative care. This role requires a compassionate disposition, excellent surgical skills, and a commitment to animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Work with a variety of animal species, including domestic pets and exotics.
• Apply veterinary techniques and technologies to assess animal conditions.
• Lead efforts to improve the health and welfare of all patients.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development.
• Work effectively with animal care staff to ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
• Build strong relationships with pet owners and deliver exceptional customer service.
• Manage inventory of veterinary supplies and medications.
• Develop relationships with local animal shelters and rescue organizations.

Requirements

Education

• BVSc or equivalent veterinary qualification
• Additional qualifications in surgery or internal medicine preferred

Experience

• At least 5 years of clinical experience in a busy veterinary practice
