Job Description

As a News Assistant, you will support our editorial team in researching and crafting compelling news articles. Your role will involve working closely with reporters and editors to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and engagement in our publications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the writing and editing of various news articles.
  • Research and track developing stories and current events.
  • Engage in fact-checking and ensure accuracy before publication.
  • Create multimedia content for online platforms.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with news sources for story development.
  • Attend events, press releases, and interviews to gather information.
  • Support editorial decisions and ensure alignment with editorial standards.
  • Help maintain an active social media presence for the publication.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions for new story ideas.
  • Assist with website updates and management of content.

Requirements

Education
  • Diploma or equivalent in Journalism or Communications
Experience
  • Prior experience in a newsroom is advantageous
