Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Horticulturist to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for planting, cultivating, and maintaining various plant species, while also ensuring the health and aesthetics of outdoor landscapes. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a love for nature.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute planting schedules based on seasonal requirements.
• Supervise junior staff and volunteers in landscaping tasks.
• Ensure high standards of quality and workmanship in all horticultural operations.
• Research and recommend new plant varieties suitable for local conditions.
• Conduct regular site assessments and client consultations.
• Assist in budget preparation for horticultural projects.
• Promote sustainability through eco-friendly gardening practices.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Horticulture or related field
• Advanced studies in Botany or Agronomy are advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in horticulture or gardening

Technical Skills

• Landscape Design
• Irrigation Systems

Certifications

• Sustainable Gardening Practices Certification
• Certified Landscape Professional (CLP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
