Geologist

Job Description

We are seeking a Geologist who is passionate about understanding the Earth’s structure and resources. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers, conducting geological surveys and analyzing data to support mining and environmental initiatives. Candidates should be skilled in mapping geological formations and have a deep understanding of geological principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geological mapping and analysis.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide geological insights for projects.
• Evaluate geological hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Document geological findings, presenting them in a clear and concise manner.
• Maintain accurate records of geological samples and data.
• Participate in fieldwork, collecting and testing soil and rock samples.
• Assist in the development of project proposals and budgets.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences or related field
• Advanced degree is preferred

Experience

• 3-7 years of experience in geology or environmental consulting

• Geochemistry
• Remote Sensing

• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Certified Geological Technician (CGT)
• Project Management Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Field Survey Experience: Hands-on experience conducting geological field surveys and sampling.
• Knowledge of Mining Regulations: Familiarity with South African mining regulations and environmental legislation.
