Tax Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking a Tax Consultant to join our Cape Town office. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients. You will be responsible for providing tax advice, preparing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for clients on all tax-related matters.
• Assist in developing processes to improve compliance efficiency.
• Mentor junior staff and assist in their professional development.
• Review and analyze tax returns prepared by junior staff.
• Engage in professional development to enhance knowledge of tax laws.
• Liaise with government entities on behalf of clients.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Master's in Taxation is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of work experience in tax consulting

Technical Skills

• Tax Legislation Knowledge
• Accounting Software Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Detail-oriented
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Registered Tax Consultant
• Professional Accountant (SA)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Conversational

Advantageous

• Strong IT skills: Proficient in using advanced software for tax calculations and reporting.
• Experience with tax dispute resolution: Experience managing tax disputes with tax authorities.
