The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing surgical procedures, diagnosing and treating a variety of animal conditions, and ensuring the highest standards of veterinary care. Responsibilities

  • Examine animals and diagnose their health issues.
  • Carry out complex surgical procedures and provide post-operative care.
  • Develop treatment plans and communicate them effectively to clients.
  • Implement preventative health measures and recommend long-term care strategies.
  • Manage the veterinary practice's inventory of medical supplies.
  • Participate in continuing education to enhance professional skills.
  • Foster a supportive environment for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular health checks and monitor recovery of treated animals.
  • Advise on nutritional plans and behavioral training.
  • Manage medical waste and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Requirements

Education
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
  • Registration with the South African Veterinary Council
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in veterinary practice
