Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join our dedicated team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil or structural engineering and a passion for innovative building solutions. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing construction projects that contribute to the infrastructure of the region.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and predict structural failures of existing buildings and recommend reinforcement solutions.
• Collaborate on the design of multi-disciplinary projects involving various engineering disciplines.
• Prepare cost estimates and provide budget oversight for all engineering tasks.
• Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.
• Foster innovative approaches to improve efficiency in design and execution.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred
• Title of registered engineer (Pr.Eng) is essential

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering design

Technical Skills

• Civil 3D
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Registered Engineer (Pr.Eng)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Intermediate

Advantageous

• Familiarity with local building codes: Strong knowledge of South African building codes and regulations.
• Experience in seismic design: Knowledge and practical experience in designing structures that are earthquake-resistant.
