Job Description

As a County Historian, you will be at the forefront of preserving the heritage of the Cape Town area. Your responsibilities will include researching local history, documenting communities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance public understanding of our cultural legacy.

Responsibilities

  • Research and document the history of Cape Town and surrounding areas.
  • Work with local stakeholders to gather historical data and stories.
  • Develop educational resources and curate exhibitions to promote historical awareness.
  • Engage with community members and local schools to encourage participation in heritage initiatives.
  • Evaluate and preserve historical artifacts for future generations.
  • Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts for historical projects.
  • Manage multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met effectively.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in History, Heritage Studies, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree considered with extensive experience
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in managing historical projects or archives.
