Responsibilities

• Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles.
• Facilitate small group instruction focusing on students' unique strengths and challenges.
• Provide positive reinforcement and motivation to encourage student participation.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
• Develop strategies to manage classroom behavior and promote positive social interactions.
• Collaborate with specialists to align therapeutic interventions with educational goals.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education or Special Education
• Postgraduate qualification in Special Education is an advantage

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in special education

Technical Skills

• Classroom Management
• Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Soft Skills

• Empathy
• Communication

Certifications

• Teaching Certification
• Special Education Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience with Assistive Technology: Knowledge of tools and devices that help students with disabilities.
• First Aid Certification: Certification in First Aid preferred but not essential.
