Pump Repair Mechanic

Job Description

The Pump Repair Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of pumps used in industries such as mining, agriculture, and manufacturing. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose pump issues, and experience working with hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose issues with pumping equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on various pumps.
• Replace defective parts such as gears and shafts.
• Ensure pumps meet industry standards and regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols.
• Keep accurate logs of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Trade Certificate in fitting and turning or mechanical engineering preferred

Experience

• At least 3 years' experience in pump repair and maintenance.

Technical Skills

• Hydraulic systems knowledge
• Welding and fabrication skills
• Proficiency in hand and power tools

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Team collaboration
• Attention to detail

Certifications

• Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
• Valid driver's license

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience with slurry pumps: Background in servicing slurry pumps is an advantage.
• Experience with vertical turbine pumps: Familiarity with vertical turbine pump operation and repair.
