Job Description

The Blasting Entryman is tasked with the safe preparation and detonation of explosives to excavate rock masses and create tunnels. The role involves meticulous attention to detail in adhering to safety protocols and collaborating with the mining team.

Responsibilities

• Set up blasting equipment and prepare explosives.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Inspect equipment and tools to guarantee proper functionality.
• Assist in the execution of blasting plans and procedures.
• Provide recommendations for process improvements.
• Monitor blasting operations and adjust methods as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of blasting operations.
• Report any safety concerns to the Blasting Supervisor.
• Train new team members in safety and operational procedures.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Previous mining experience preferred

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in underground blasting

Technical Skills

• Experience with different types of explosives
• Drilling and blasting techniques

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure

Certifications

• Valid Blasting Certificate

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in leading teams during blasting operations: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Familiarity with safety regulations in mining: Knowledge of local safety laws and regulations pertinent to mining.
