Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to play a key role in our design and project delivery efforts in Cape Town. Working closely with clients and project teams, you will ensure that structural systems are safe, efficient, and in compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail structures for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Conduct structural inspections for integrity assessments.
• Prepare and review project specifications and contracts.
• Collaborate with the construction team to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Evaluate and select appropriate construction materials.
• Utilize BIM technologies to improve design accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide ongoing consultation and support to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in post-project reviews to reflect on outcomes and improve practices.
• Develop cost estimates for engineering projects.
• Assist in the development of project proposals and tenders.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the field

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• Project Management Software

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Leadership

Certifications

• Professional Engineer (PrEng) license
• Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of seismic design principles: Experience designing for earthquake-resistant structures.
• Experience with construction management: Familiarity with managing construction projects from inception to completion.
