Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Specialist to join our team in Pretoria. In this role, you will handle tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of South African tax regulations and the ability to develop effective tax strategies that align with our clients’ business goals. Your expertise will be critical in conducting thorough tax analyses, ensuring timely submissions, and advising clients on tax minimisation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements to assess tax liabilities and planning opportunities.
• Prepare and review tax provisions for financial reporting.
• Assist clients in tax audits and negotiations with tax authorities.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding tax matters and deadlines.
• Advocate for clients in tax-related disputes and resolutions.
• Prepare forensic-style reviews for clients under investigation.
• Collaborate with financial planners to provide a holistic approach to clients’ financial health.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Taxation or related field
• Master's degree in Taxation is advantageous

Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in tax consultancy or financial advisory services

Technical Skills

• Income Tax Law
• Tax Software Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving
• Team Coordination

Certifications

• Registered Tax Practitioner with SAIT
• Professional Tax Advisor designation (if applicable)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Experience in Legacy Tax Systems: Understanding of older tax compliance frameworks and their regulations.
• Proficiency in Additional Languages: Ability to communicate in Afrikaans or other local languages is advantageous.
